Clemens Back with the Yanks
A lot of people have made a HUGE deal over this signing. People are for it, against it, embarrassed by it, disgusted by it, thrilled by it, you name it.
Some people can't stand the contractual terms allowing Clemens to leave his team between starts. Some people don't like the special treatment. Others point out that to sign arguably the best pitcher of our generation, you have to give a little more.
Here is my very simple view on this whole deal:
1. I don't personally know Roger Clemens or any other member of the NY Yankees at this time, nor do I expect I ever will.
2. I don't know or care how his coming and going looks to people.'
3. I don't care of he talks to other pitchers, players, etc...
4. I certainly don't care about the money since I am not writing the check - and don't give me the "you buy the tickets" BS argument. When I want to go to a game I will buy a ticket, when I don't want to I won't. If I cannot afford it, I won't go and I'll watch on TV like I do every night. This ticket price argument has always been stupid to me. Bottom line, you didn't sign a contract like the Yankees did, you don't HAVE to pay for a ticket!
It boils down like this -
If the Yankees win the World Series this year, then it was a good signing.
If the Yankees do not win the World Series this year, then it was an irrelevant signing.
The rest of it all is a bunch of crap.
